A MUSTHAVE for Spring 2013! Can you say WHITE HOT!

A MUST HAVE for Spring 2013! Can you say WHITE HOT!

Recently, I’ve noticed more and more celebs are wearing white pumps, and I gotta say I love it! White pumps are no longer for Easter Sunday service anymore, they can be worn with just about anything. It’s the perfect pop of color to spruce up any look. So why are many people skeptical of this on going trend? I’ve been on many fashion sites and lately I’ve noticed that whenever a white shoe is shown on someone the comments are always negative. Even when I ask random women about white pumps they cringe at the thought of wearing them. I’m so sick of hearing the phrase “I would wear those if they wear black”, or “I just can’t get with wearing white shoes”.

Ladies, can you honestly look at this picture and say that white shoes just “don’t go with this outfit”. Ignore the fact that it’s Kim Kardashian (for all the KK haters out there) and judge the outfit. Is this not chic?

Stop being afraid to step outside of the box. There is nothing that a black pump can do to an outfit that a white pump can’t.  Black is safe. Of course if a particular shoe came in black you would wear it. You probably already have it.

Fashion is all about fun and being able to take a risk. Don’t overlook the next white stiletto you see, you’ll be surprised at how many ways you can style it.

What do you think of the white shoe trend? Is it a MESS or a YES?

Fashion in Review: BEST OF 2012: Designers

26 Dec

The fast forwarded, super-charged 12 months that was 2012 got me to thinking, about fashion of course!  There wasn’t a time when you saw a celebrity, whether it be in a magazine, on a blog, or on tv, that you didn’t see what they were wearing. As much as we hate to admit it, celebs have just as much say on the trends that come and go just as much as the designers who create them. What’s in and what’s out. What stays and what goes. What’s hot and what’s definitely not. As we bid 2012 a fashionable farewell, let’s take a look back at a few designers that made headlines in more ways than one.

Victoria Beckham. Host a signing at Bergdorf Goodman with Anna Wintour during Fashion’s Night Out, check. Pose with Karl Lagerfeld at the legendary home of Coco Chanel for a spread in Elle France, check. And have your designs photographed numerous times on your fellow celebrity counterparts at countless events, check check check. Mrs. Beckham has definitely had a successful 2012, erasing away the hyphenated “celebrity-turned-designer” that so many of her colleagues use, and solidifying herself amongst the elite circle of designers. This year, like many before, Victoria Beckham was the go-to for women wanting a touch of elegance, style, and class that only Posh Spice’s designs can bring. Call it “tailored femininity” that encompasses every dress and looks good on women of all shapes and sizes.

Isabel Marant. If you haven’t heard of this woman or seen her shoes then I have one question to ask you: Where have you been all year?!! Isabel Marant, the genius designer responsible for the ‘IT’ shoe of the year, beating out long standing champ Christian Louboutin, thought of a way to make sneakers more fashionable by adding a wedge to an otherwise basic pair of shoes.  The wedge sneaker craze took over 2012, for the first time in a long time, women donned sneakers more than stilettos. Everyone from D list to A list was seen wearing these shoes at any outing, day or night. Marant birthed a phenomenon amongst celebs, fashionistas, and knockoff extraordinaires alike.

Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci. Favored by many A-list celebrities, Givenchy was worn on the bodies of women and men equally; you could not look on a fashion blog without seeing the now coveted Rottweiler printed t-shirt or the red and black star-addled sweater worn on most men. Tisci’s creations were a major factor at some of the year’s biggest events. At this year’s Met Gala, the intricately detailed couture gowns were seen on Beyonce, Gisele Bundchen, and Liv Tyler. When Tisci isn’t designing masterpieces for the runway, he’s lending his creative talents to Jay-Z and Kanye West, honing his craft for the album artwork of last year’s smash album Watch The Throne.  Famous for graphic t-shirts, bold prints and colors, and laced, beaded details, it isn’t a surprise why celebs choose Givenchy to turn heads.

Celine.  “Celine is not a brand for spectacle, it’s a brand for real life”.  One of the biggest success stories of the year, Celine was hands down a winner among women everywhere. The total opposite of brands such as Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci or Balmain, Celine was able to crossover with a minimalistic, feminine, contemporary approach to women’s wear with a haute couture touch. Think of it as “minimalist chic”  for the woman on the go, a woman who wants to be effortlessly stylish at all times. Of course, celebs were always photographed in pieces from the collection, however most of them were typically seen out and about with the ‘IT’ bag of the year, the luggage tote, otherwise known to some as “the bag with the face”. Retailing for upwards of $2400, this bag is the definition of effortless style. There’s no monogrammed logo or flashy signs, loud, gaudy chains or any distracting designs. It can be carried from day to night and it’s the kind of bag a woman feels confident carrying. This bag, like the House of Celine, will never go out of style.

So what did you think of the list? Were there designers that made an impact this year that weren’t mentioned? Are you looking forward to 2013 and what these designers have to offer? Nothing’s more stylish than an opinion.  Feel free to share and check out the gallery!
